THREE LARGE TRACTS OF PROPERTY IN DEER HUNTING UNITS 1 and 3!!

Here is a great property to get in on some great western Kansas prairie bucks!!! This property is divided up into three separate tracts to give you three different deer herds to hunt from. You should not see the same deer on any of the three.

The first tract (Unit 1) (in the northwest corner of the map below) is a mile section. It has a nice pasture with a great pond and few trees surrounding the pond. There is a great grassy draw, with some water holes throughout a dry creek, that runs in the middle of the property for the entire mile. This pasture is surrounded by agricultural fields that were planted to row crops the previous year. The deer will definitely be using this pasture with crops standing all around it. There will be plenty of feed and cover for pheasants a quail also.

The middle tract (Unit 1) is a half section that is made up of yucca and sage brush ravines. There is a nice pond and stream on the north end of the property with plenty of deer tracks surrounding both. A well-placed feeder in one of these deep ravines could have deer coming from miles around. This is a typical pasture for western Kansas prairie bucks. Not many hunters would think that deer live in this kind of country but as the sun sets the appear out of nowhere!!!

The final tract is in Graham county (Unit 3). This tract is the corner stone of all three. It has cover, feed, and water. All the makings of big buck country. There is an agricultural field to the south. As you move north, the field becomes a bluff as the property descends down into a creek bottom. This bluff is a great place to glass the bedding areas along the creek bottom. The creek bottom surrounds an area of 6-foot-tall native grass that will be great bedding. This is where I found a true fence post rub. The deer have been rubbing this post for years. I also jumped some bedded deer and got a picture of one doe. The creek meanders to the east creating nice wooded pockets along the way. There were rubs throughout this creek bottom and some great trees for stands. This is a great set up to catch deer moving from feed to bed on a consistent basis.

When putting in for tags, a hunter gets a primary unit and an adjoining unit. Be sure to use Units 1 and 3.
